The department of Dermatology, Venereology and leprosy at SBMCH under the able guidance of Prof.K. Manoharan, the H.O.D, is one of the premier departments in the institution. The Department consists of dedicated and academically sound faculty members complemented by well trained and sincere staff.
In the Dept of D.V.L, we deal with patients who primarily present with problems pertaining to the skin, hair and nails. The field also encompasses the diagnosis, management and support of patients with Leprosy and Sexually transmitted infections. In recent years the branch has witnessed a booming growth and demand in the field of core dermatology and aesthetics that aims to provide medical and procedural solutions to various problems of the skin. We at the department of D.V.L, SBMCH have always remained in sync with this changing trend and constantly update ourselves in these spheres of dermatology.
Our main purpose has always been and continues to be dedicated patient care and to focus on training of Postgraduate and undergraduates to nurture their clinical skills while also ensuring their holistic development.
The department has an intake of seven Post graduate students per academic year. We have a dedicated ART center that functions to offer testing and issuing of antiretroviral therapy. The department houses a state-of-the-art aesthetic and dermatosurgery wing that is equipped with an expanding arsenal of updated instruments.
Sree Balaji Medical College & Hospital was started from the academic year 2003-04 with the aim of providing excellent medical education run by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust established in 1984 and it has come under the ambit of BHARATH INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION & RESEARCH in the year 2004.
