Casualty (Accident & Emergency Medicine)
SBMCH Emergency Department (ED) provides emergency service to all patients who present for evaluation and treatment, regardless of age, complaint, or ability to pay. Services provided include care across the continuum, from the severely ill or injured, to those with minor problems. Specially trained staff and resources are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to evaluate and treat all disease processes.
The patients comprise of High acuity population (approximately 80% of our population is urgent or emergent)
Approximately 70% of patients seen in the ED are admitted to the hospital
The clinical focus of the department is to give quality pre hospital & in hospital emergency care to all patients. To provide timely resuscitative measures for patients who are acutely ill.
Medical Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art emergency care to adults and children. Our professional staff provides this care to patients with a wide-range of emergency medical problems – adult medical, pediatric, traumatic a, and psychiatric conditions -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Emergency department consists of physicians with specialized training in emergency medicine, emergency medical residents, nurses and paramedics. Department staffs also educate residents from other specialties and medical students.

The Emergency department has 20 beds with 5 more beds for observation and further management.
We have a good decontamination unit. All the radiological imaging modalities are available adjacent to the emergency room and available for 24 hrs. There is an operation theatre attached to emergency room.
We have fully equipped ambulance service 24hrs.
