The Department of physiology was started in 2003, since then department is actively
engaged in providing a spectrum of comprehensive knowledge, and service of the
highest quality to students including research activities.
The mission is to enhance the students understanding of the function of cells, tissue and organs.
- A fully equipped research laboratory with enthusiastic researchers
- HOD &Faculty rooms
- Department office with a computer and internet connection
- An Amphibian and mammalian laboratory, hematology and clinical Physiology

The Curriculam for the I MBBS student is designed to provide the understanding of cellular and moleccular mechanisms of systems and integrative physiology. Our undergraduate students receive training in theory and practical physiology.
They also have the opportunity to indulge in reserch activities and to carry out small funded Projects. They are also encouraged to present papers in state and national conference.
We also teach the students the applied aspects of physiology which will help them to enhance their knowledge of pathophysiology.
The curriculum include seminars, integrated lecture series, both horizontal and vertical.
Physiology curriculum includes various systems, blood and body fluids, skeletal muscle, gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, excreatory system, cardiovascular system respiratory system, reproductive system and special senses.
The undergraduates are trained in haematology and clinical physiology practicals.
The Postgraduate Curriculum:
It aims on improving their teaching skills and in kindling their interest in research. We instill the idea of research in them and help them to analyze critically. The curriculum is extensive which also includes molecular and integrative physiology Recent advances and history in physiology and medicine. They have routine activities like seminars, journal club, group discussion etc.in the department Apart from various research activities they do carry out small projects for this dissertation, which is mandatory. They are also motivated to present research papers in Conferences. They are encouraged and trained to prepare the manuscripts and publish the same in various journals. They are posted in various preclinical, paraclinical and clinical department for a sufficient period to enhance their clinical and research skills. They are given hands –on training in amphibian, mammalian, hematologyand human physiology practicals.
