The ICTC(Integrated counselling and testing centre) was started in the Year 2008 by department of Dermatology authorised by Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society (TANSACS). The centre offered free Counselling and testing to all the patients over a period of 15Yrs.
The Centre also conducted various camps and outreach Activities as a part of developmental Programmes by National Aids Control Society.
The Anti Retro Viral Therapy Centre was started on December 2022 as a part of decentralisation and Private Sector Undertaking Program Started by (TANSACS) and was inaugurated by Dr. Bharanidharan Deputy Director of Health Services Chengalpattu.
Within a Short span of 4 months our ART Centre in SBMCH had the highest number patients living with HIV getting treated successfully under the scheme. We were highly recognised and appreciated by JD CST Division during the annual general body meeting held in April 2023.ARTC,SBMCH was awarded the best performing ART centres under private sectors for the year 2023 by the Honourable minister of Health and Family welfare at world HIV day celebration by TANSACS on 27/12/2023.
The Medical and Paramedical Staff of the ART Centre Attend training programs and workshops Conducted by TANSACS at various Govt. Medical Centres. We conduct various outreach and academic activities in collaboration with other departments of the college.
Moving forward our ICTC has been upgraded to Standalone ICTC from August 2023. The centre tests close to 300 cases per month helping the ART centre in early detection and initiation of treatment.
As on August 2024,the centre has recorded 144 cases of PLHIV. The centre has also joined hands with NACO for the intensified index testing campaign launched in June 2024.
The centre provides free counselling, treatment and medicines to all the patients living with HIV without any discrimination. The centre is located in 1st floor of the Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital which functions from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm on all working days.
