About the Department
Our Clinical Skills Laboratory at SBMCH focuses on enabling both its undergraduate and postgraduate medical students to provide a safe and non threatening environment for students to learn, practice and be observed performing skills in a simulated environment thus mitigating the risks involved in direct patient exposure without adequate preparation and supervision. SBMCH’s skill lab attempts to recreate the clinical environment and tasks which future health car workers have to perform with various levels of complexity and fidelity. It is an advanced educational centre taking medical education to the next higher level.
The area of the Skill lab is with difference sections imparting training to students in the basic and advanced medical and surgical sections. This entire well-equipped centre has been created in the 2nd floor and provides cutting edge technology with modern mannequins. Both the educational needs of our students and the clinical needs of the patients are met in an innovative way in the centre.
The practice on the mannequins allows the students to repeatedly learn skills to be performed in contrived situations and this allow them to perform procedures on the real patients more effectively, keeping in view patient safety concerns. The faculty has made various improvised devices to facilitate learning process. Faculty members are trained and organised workshops on creation of E-Learning materials.
